Peter Safran and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn are currently in the process of rebuilding the DC Cinematic Universe, and one of their first projects will be an animated series called Creature Commandos. The show will be a bit like The Suicide Squad: intelligence operative Amanda Waller will assemble a team of supervillains to undertake dangerous tasks on behalf of the U.S. government, with the promise of time off their sentences if they do a good job. The gimmick with Creature Commandos is that the team is mostly comprised of monstrous characters.

We already know a lot of the cast members. Frank Grillo will voice Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour is Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma is The Bride, Maria Bakalova is Princess Ilana Rostovic, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Steve Agee as John Economos and James Gunn's brother Sean as Weasel and G.I. Robot. Now, Gunn has confirmed on Threads that The Witcher star Anya Chalotra will play the Wonder Woman villain Circe, who's based on a figure from Greek mythology.

Circe is a powerful sorceress rerowned for her beauty, which is actually very similar to Yennefer of Vengerberg, the character Chalotra plays on The Witcher. Remember: Creature Commandos is an animated show, but since Gunn and Safran are trying to build out a universe here, it's possible Chalotra's Circe could show up in live-action form in some film or TV show down the line.

Creature Commandos should be out on Max towards the end of this year, making it one of the first pieces of content Gunn and Safran will release as part of their rebooted DCU. As for the next season of The Witcher, smart money's on that landing on Netflix sometime in 2025.

Next. Game of Thrones. Would Game of Thrones showrunners return for Jon Snow sequel? "I don't know...". dark
