This fall, the band of misfit adventurers known as Vox Machina will return on Amazon Prime Video to continue their Dungeons & Dragons-inspired adventures. In this case, the dragon part of that is terrifyingly real, as our intrepid mercenary group is up against a group of tyrannical dragons known as the Chroma Conclave. The animated series, based on the live D&D games played by the cast members of Critical Role, has been a success, to the point where Amazon is expanding the universe. But we'll get to that in a second. First, watch the teaser trailer for The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 above.

"Everything is at stake in the long-awaited Season 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina," reads the official description. "The Chroma Conclave’s path of destruction spreads like wildfire while the Cinder King hunts down Vox Machina. Our lovable band of misfits must rise above inner (and outer) demons to try and save their loved ones, Tal’Dorei, and all of Exandria."

The folks at Critical Role played out their Vox Machina campaign over the course of a few years, but eventually the TV show will run out of material to adapt. Happily, there's a plan: Amazon has already ordered another animated series based on The Mighty Nein, the company's next campaign. Many fans think The MIght Nein is even better than Vox Machina, so that's something to look forward to. There's been no news about whether Amazon might eventually adapt the group's third and current campaign, Hell's Bells, for TV.

For now, the first two season of The Legend of Vox Machina are available to stream on Prime Video. The third debuts on October 3.
