Gollum is one of the most tragic, iconic, and recognizable characters in fantasy literature and cinema. The creature was famously portrayed vocally and physically through CGI by the brilliant Andy Serkis in The Lord of the Rings series and Hobbit prequels.

One of the things that is so distinctive about Gollum is his voice: high-pitched, and in turns both pathetic and sinister. The voice is what we remember most about Gollum. The words "my precious," his name for his magical ring that caused so much trouble in Middle-earth, is forever pressed into our memories and pop culture.

Imagine Gollum as the lead singer in a rock band covering "The Sound of Silence" and then watch it

The Facebook account SethDrums released a video where they manipulated Gollum's voice to sing Simon and Garfunkel's classic sound "The Sound of Silence." It is both creepy and hilarious at the same time. Watch below:

The song choice, a haunting song from the '60s, and covered by Disturbed a few years back, is what made this clip as funny as it was. "The Sound of Silence" sets the perfect tone and can be turned creepy enough lyrically to be something Gollum might sing if he were indeed a rock star.

Serkis also portrayed Caesar in 2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and its two sequels. Like he did with Gollum, he provided voice acting plus modeling the movements through motion capture. It is unclear if Serkis will reprise that role in the upcoming movie Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, due out this summer. IMDb does not list Serkis as being in the movie. Kevin Durand is listed as playing Proximus Caesar.

It was fun to see someone go creative with Gollum's voice. The guy in the video was priceless and he was crying from laughing so hard. Hopefully you'll get a kick out of it too.
