Fans would agree that Silo season 3 has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, taking viewers back and forth between two timelines, each devastating in its own right. It wouldn’t be wrong to admit that the twists and revelations were worth the wait, but there’s still a lot to unpack.
We finally learned what happened in the past that forced the people into the silos. The show also reveals the sinister truth about Silo 1 and its unforgivable practices of executing societies that don’t comply. However, what we still don’t know is the “why?”
Bernard asked the right questions, and while we know the answers to many of them now, there are still mysteries that the upcoming season needs to address.

What will happen to Helen?
Helen Drew was last seen at the edge of the small hill overlooking Silo 1, where Daniel was standing, talking to her on the phone. Then suddenly, the bomb went off, and the couple was forced into their respective silos. Now, the season 3 finale showed what happened to Daniel after he went into the silo, but we never learned about Helen’s fate.
Of course, she survived because that’s how the Pez dispenser ended up as a relic; however, the burning question is: what did she do in Silo 18? Given her curious mind and headstrong personality, she wouldn’t have just accepted things as they were. Silo season 4 should give viewers a deep dive into Helen’s story, especially her descendants.
Speaking of which, there’s a hot take from fans dubbed the “Bloodline Theory,” which implies that Juliette Nichols may be Helen’s descendant. Even if that’s not the case, Helen would be an integral part of the story, and fans would want to know how she dealt with the aftermath or if she ever tried to find a way back to Daniel.
Who destroyed the world?
The audience knows a nuke went off and that the outside world is somehow uninhabitable, but they never reveal who did it. If it was, in fact, the Iranians or terrorist groups, then why all the secrecy? The show could have easily put an end to the debate because a bomb did go off and the world was laid to waste.
However, if that were the case, the founders wouldn’t have just killed off silos if these underground societies were humanity’s last stand. There’s something more to The Project than meets the eye, especially if it was the brainchild of a rich man with a survivalist complex. We believe Silo season 4 will add more to the mystery of how the world ended, and specifically who ended it.
What did they do to Charlotte?
Seeing Charlotte in the control center when Troy stepped in to deal with the Silo 17 was an utter shock. It must have caught everyone by surprise, but what’s even more astounding is the detachment between Daniel and Charlotte, who now go by Susan and Troy. They have no idea who they are, and they conduct business without remembering even a glimpse of their shared past.
Now, the question here is: how did they achieve this level of apathy between the siblings? How did Charlotte’s mind not break from being experimented on repeatedly with the memory drug? It must have taken decades of conditioning their minds, and if that’s possible, why don’t they do the same with the highest-risk silos?
It’s understandable to some extent that Daniel and Charlotte’s shared presence may not trigger their memories because Charlotte’s memories didn’t come back when she saw Daniel after her accident. The relapse from the drugs may work only because of memories associated with material things. If that’s the case, this is another thing that season 4 should definitely expand on.
Will Daniel regain his memories?
Daniel’s Silo 1 persona is callous and appears devoid of consciousness. This could have resulted from taking away everything that makes a person a person. But despite everything, Daniel still gets glimpses of Helen every now and then and keeps asking Victor about her.
At the end of episode 10, we see that Victor left Daniel an encrypted video message in which he shares Helen’s name. As the camera closes in on his face, we can clearly see Daniel resurfacing because the desperation with which he says his former wife’s name could only be produced from a place of love.
However, with Silo 18 running against them and no Victor to guide him, how will Daniel regain his memories, if at all? It could be that whatever emotion he is experiencing is merely a reawakening of a small part of Troy’s conscience, and that Daniel is gone for good.
Hopefully, that’s not the case, but it’s a question that fans need an answer to in the upcoming season. The viewers have been rooting for Daniel since day one, but his stunt as Troy has left them in shock. The only way for redemption at this point is for Daniel to come back, but is that even possible now?
What kills people outside the silo?
One of the biggest questions left unanswered in the show is the truth behind the outside atmosphere. We know the series has established that the outside air is toxic and that no one can survive for more than a few minutes without an airtight suit. However, if that were the case, Lukas Kyle wouldn’t have survived when he was shot.
The fact that there was a hole in his suit and he still made it all the way to Silo 17 proves that it is not the air that’s killing the people but something else. This is further evidenced by footage from Silo 17 showing people surviving in the open air. It wasn’t until Troy ordered something called a “compound” to be released that they started dying. The rest were then shot down by drones until no one was left.
So, if it isn’t the nuclear fallout, then what exactly is this compound that they release into the air and the silos through the Safeguard valve? Is it a manufactured poison, or could it be some form of nanotechnology? Remember how the tour guide at Silo 18 told Helen that the silos were designed to keep out particles as small as 50 nanometers? What if that specification was there for a reason—and that reason is quite literal?
Well, that’s a question only the show can answer. Silo returns for a fourth and final season in the summer of 2027.
