Silo season 3 is officially at an end. The tenth episode of the show's latest outing is easily its most devastating yet, pulling back the curtain on the true nature of Silo 1, the original silo which keeps a dystopian death grip on all the others. Over the course of the episode's hour-long runtime, viewers bore witness to the horrific truth of how the residents of Silo 17 met their end, how Daniel Keene's life was changed after the bomb separated him from his wife, Helen, and how Silo 18 managed to desperately resist utter annihilation at the eleventh hour. To call it riveting feels like an understatement; this was easily one of the best episodes of Silo's entire run.
In some ways, however, "Troy," feels like the end of part one of Silo's endgame. That's appropriate, since Apple filmed seasons 3 and 4 back-to-back in order to properly finish out the story told by Hugh Howey's book trilogy. The fourth and final season of the series wrapped filming in March of 2026, which means we won't be waiting long at all to see how it all resolves.
In fact, we even know when it will premiere: July 9, 2027. Apple is wasting no time getting us ready for our last visit to the silos. The streamer announced a Summer 2027 release window in a video released to its YouTube channel last month, but now it's done fans one better. A brand new teaser for season 4 was released alongside the season 3 finale, giving us an exact premiere date as well as a full-on look at some of the show's final installment. In an era where multiple years typically pass between seasons of prestige genre dramas, this kind of treatment feels like a breath of fresh air.

The final season of Silo is going to be an emotional rollercoaster
The biggest takeaway I had from this teaser is that Silo's final season is going to make me an emotional wreck. Thanks to a brilliant bit of music that plucks that heartstrings and an earnest speech to the Silo 18 residents from Sheriff Paul Billings (Chinaza Uche), it's hard not to feel something watching this teaser.
Another huge reveal is that we will see more of Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Per Stensen (Colin Hanks), two characters who were conspicuously absent from the season 3 finale. We even get an idea of how the show will bring Helen back: by showing her first going into Silo 18, and adjusting to the early days of life there. This is not something we ever got to see in Hugh Howey's book series, but it feels like such fertile ground for the television show — especially since it changed things to have Helen in Silo 18 rather than Silo 2, like the novels. That means we're going to see how society in Juliette's silo first began.
Speaking of Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson), she's in the teaser plenty as well, shooting drones on the stairs of what looks like Silo 1 and encountering none other than Troy a.k.a. Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman), who eerily tells her he doesn't remember who he is. Given how well the finale handled Daniel's storyline, I am dying to see the rest of that conversation.
There's plenty more to parse in this trailer, including some intense flooding where Knox (Shane McRae) is forced to flee down a pipe, some scenes of an exhausted Senator Thurman (Laura Innes), and the aforementioned Stensen, whose whereabouts remain uncertain. Did the billionaire who built the silos make it into Silo 1 when the bomb fell? And if he did, what happened to him?
When does Silo season 4 come out?
Apple's decision to plot out a firm ending for Silo is already paying off, and we're still almost a year out from watching it. This sort of immediate tease was just what I needed to help that intense, brooding finale go down. To already have a solid release date and brand new footage from the final season out there will undoubtedly go a long way toward hooking in fans who are still reeling the many twists and turns of the season 3 finale. Here's hoping other streamers see the way Apple TV has handled Silo's third and fourth seasons and take notes, because this is the sort of thing that wins over viewers immensely.
