Silo season 4 officially wraps filming — But when does Silo season 3 come out?

The fourth and final season of Silo is done with filming! That must mean we're close to hearing more about season 3, right?

Apple TV has had a heck of a hot streak for adult sci-fi television shows, but the clock is winding down for at least one of its hit series. Today the streamer announced on its X account that Silo has officially wrapped filming on season 4, which will bring it right to the end of the book series by Hugh Howey. Time to celebrate like you live in an underground bunker!

"But wait, what happened to season 3?" you may ask. Fret not; the third and fourth seasons of the Rebecca Ferguson-starring post-apocalyptic series were filmed back-to-back. Season 3 wrapped in May 2025. Now that the series is done filming season 4 as well, all focus is on post-production to get these last two seasons over the finish line. I'd expect an announcement about season 3's release date any time now.

When does Silo season 3 premiere on Apple TV?

Obviously, it's great news that Silo is now done with filming. The show has had a consistent vision thus far, and it's a testament to how much it stuck to that vision that its team filmed both seasons 3 and 4 back-to-back. They're expected to cover the second and third books in Howey's series, Shift and Dust, though how exactly the material will break down between the two seasons remains to be seen.

Silo season 2 premiered in November 2024, and finished out its run in on January 17, 2025. It's been over a year since then, and Apple has kept the release date for season 3 close to its chest. But there's no question that it has to be getting close.

We may not have an official release date for season 3 yet, but we can get a fairly accurate idea of the earliest we might see it by looking ahead at Apple TV's slate of sci-fi shows for the year, since the streamer tends to not air more than one of its large science fiction properties at a time. The next on the docket is For All Mankind season 5, which premieres on March 27. It consists of 10 episodes, and runs until May 29 — which happens to be the same day that its spinoff, Star City, premieres. Star City has eight episodes in its first season, which means it'll presumably run until June 17.

I would wager that we won't see Silo season 3 premiere until after Star City has wrapped its run. So my guess is we'll be watching Silo season 3 during Summer 2026 at the earliest.

We'll be on the lookout for more updates, but for now, it's good to have another solid confirmation that work is moving along well for the series. It's a good time to brush up on Silo seasons 1 and 2, both of which are available on Apple TV.
