Earlier this year, Apple TV+ finished airing the second season of Silo, the science fiction series starring Rebecca Ferguson as intrepid engineer truth-seeker Juliette Nichols. Season 2 was a thrilling ride, with Juliette unraveling the mysteries of a second Silo while all her friends back in the original Silo we saw during season 1 kicked off a revolution. In today's day and age of television, we'd expect to be waiting quite a while for the show's third season. But that won't be the case for Silo, because Apple announced on X over the weekend that the show had just wrapped filming on season 3!
Silo was renewed for season 3 and 4 in December 2024; season 4 will bring the series to a conclusion. The show will cover all of the material from Hugh Howey's Silo books, wrapping this show up in a strong way without wandering off into the weeds. Silo season 3 and 4 were slated to be filmed back-to-back. With season 3 already in the can, it sounds like the show is speeding into its endgame — and like we won't be waiting too long to see more of it!

When will Silo season 3 come out?
The third season of Silo will cover the events of Shift, the second book in Howey's trilogy. Shift is a somewhat weird book which largely follows new characters; we met them during the mind-bending flashback at the end of season 2, where we caught a glimpse of the world before the apocalypse. Season 3 will almost certainly adjust things somewhat so that we get a bit more of Juliette throughout the season, since it'd be kind of weird for the series to leave Ferguson and the rest of the main cast on the sidelines for so long.
As for when we'll get to watch Silo season 3, I think there's good reason to be optimistic. Season 2 wrapped filming around late March 2024 and premiered its first episode later that same year on November 15. That's around an eight-month turnaround from the end of filming to the premiere, which is pretty quick in this age of big-budget fantasy and sci-fi TV. There have been rumbles that season 3 could premiere in October or November 2025, but even if it takes longer, I imagine we'll be watching it in early 2026 at the latest. Finally, a genre television show which was able to achieve one-year gaps between seasons again!
Silo's track record certainly instills confidence, so this is a show I'm perfectly content to trust to deliver. Season 3 began filming in October 2024, a full two months before the official renewal announcement went public. Filming only took about seven months; we don't have any word yet on whether they've started in on season 4, but if the seasons do film back to back, I think it's likely that the show will continue full steam ahead. Apple is committed and the team behind Silo is excellent. I'm hopeful that will make for a good final two seasons.
For now, you can stream seasons 1 and 2 of Silo on Apple TV+, and feel safe knowing you'll be seeing more of Juliette and the rest of her friends from the down deep soon enough.
