The cast and crew of House of the Dragon are currently filming the third season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series as we speak, and we're getting lots of interesting reports as cameras roll in Wales. And a new one may be the most curious yet.
According to sources at House the Dragons, a Twitter/X account that has regluarly published on-set photos, an unlikely quartet of characters will meet up early in season 3. Three of the characters already know each other: Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty), Ulf White (Tom Bennett) and Hugh Hammer (Kieran Bew), three peasants who became newly minted dragon-riders in season 2, all of them now in service to Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. It's no surprise that they'll hang out together. What's surprising is that, according to House the Dragons, they'll share a scene with Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin), the witch woman Daemon Targaryen got to know during his stay at the ruined castle of Harrenhal.

Per House the Dragons, this scene is set to go down in the season 3 premiere, which we largely expect to revolve around a major naval battle in which all three of these new dragon-riders are involved. That would mean the three of them meet up in Harrenhal beforehand, since I don't see Alys traveling anywhere.
House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood. Nothing like this scene happens in the book, but the show has already made a ton of changes to the source material, so I can't say I'm surprised to see another one crop up. I hope the timing works out, and that it doesn't feel weird or silly that that dragonseeds are zipping to Harrenhal right before they have to fly out and engage the Triarchy in the Battle of the Gullet.
House the Dragons also mentions that there was a Green Man on set. Shrouded in mystery, the Green Men are a group of people who guard the Isle of Faces, an island in the center of the Gods Eye lake, near Harrenhal. Daemon glimpsed a Green Man very briefly in the freaky vision he had in the season 2 finale.
Later in Fire & Blood, Addam of Hull is will visit the Isle of Faces and confer with the Green Men. Fire & Blood does not mention why. Although it's not mentioned that Alys Rivers is involved with the Green Men, she is very spooky herself and she does live at Harrenhal, so I can imagine there being some kind of connection. Maybe this scene is meant to set up that plotline.
I also wonder if this intel is a little off and that Addam might be the only one of the new dragon-riders to meet with Alys; remember, he was already at Harrenhal at the end of season 2, where Ulf and Hugh would have to fly there.
We'll have to wait a while before we can find any of this out. Expect new episodes of House of the Dragon to start airing on HBO and HBO Max sometime in 2026.
