Alien: Earth

  • Hulu premiere date: Aug. 12, 2025
  • Cast: Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, David Rysdahl

Remember that new sci-fi show that I was just talking about? Well, it's Alien: Earth. Described more as a sci-fi horror series, Alien: Earth acts as a prequel to the original 1979 film Alien. If you're a big fan of the Alien franchise, you'd know that this is the first-ever TV series set in that iconic universe. There are currently nine Alien movies in the franchise, with the most recent one being Alien: Romulus. But that film takes place after the events of Alien, so it has nothing to do with this upcoming series.

Alien: Earth is set two years before everything that happens in the first Alien movie. The story centers on Wendy, a highly advanced humanoid robot infused with human consciousness, who joins forces with a team of tactical soldiers to probe a mysterious spaceship crash on Earth. What do they stumble upon? A horrifying extraterrestrial force that jeopardizes their existence and the survival of mankind.

Peacemaker season 2

  • HBO Max premiere date: Aug. 21, 2025
  • Cast: John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, Frank Grillo

Next up is Peacemaker season 2. Fans have been waiting for this show to return for a very long time. We're talking over three years, so expectations are sky-high. The first season blew audiences away, so pressure is on for season 2 to deliver even bigger laughs and wilder action. We've already taken a look at the season 2 trailer, and it looks pretty promising. But we'll just have to wait and see if it lives up to the hype.

Peacemaker is more of a superhero drama that has sci-fi elements woven throughout. Season 1 picks up after the events of The Suicide Squad movie, following Christopher Smith/Peacemaker as he’s recruited by a secret government team to hunt down parasitic alien creatures threatening Earth. While all of this is going on, Peacemaker also finds himself wrestling with his own dark past and complicated family relationships. Peacemaker season 2 takes place after the events of Superman (2025), so the season’s story continues or builds on what happens in that film.

Gen V season 2

  • Prime Video premiere date: Sept. 17, 2025
  • Cast: Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Hamish Linklater, Sean Patrick Thomas

Then, we have Gen V season 2. Gen V is another show that fans have been patiently waiting to return, with the first season concluding in November 2023. Fortunately, the wait is almost over. It's just so many times we can watch the Gen V season 2 trailer before we start quoting it word for word. We need the real thing already!

Like Peacemaker, Gen V is a superhero series that mixes in some sci-fi elements. It's a spinoff of the wildly popular superhero drama The Boys, and centers around a group of young superheroes-in-training at Godolkin University, an elite institution controlled by the corrupt Vought International. As the supes battle for status and recognition, they stumble upon disturbing truths about the school and uncover the true nature of their powers as well as a dark conspiracy that could shake the entire world of superheroes.

While Gen V season 1 was set before The Boys season 4, the second season takes place after it. Marie and her friends return to Godolkin University after going through a lot of trauma. When they return, there's a new dean, whose goal is to train superpowered individuals to become soldiers.

Meanwhile, tensions are escalating between regular humans and supes, with an all-out war looming. In the middle of this, the group of young heroes uncovers a secret program.

Stranger Things season 5

Stranger Things season 5

  • Netflix premiere date: Nov. 26, 2025
  • Cast: Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink

Last but definitely not least is Stranger Things season 5. This is hands down the most anticipated sci-fi release of the entire year, and there's just no arguing that! It's also the show's final season, so fans are more than ready to see how it all ends.

This November, we'll see the return of this beloved Netflix show. However, it won't be the entire installment. Netflix has decided to split up the season into batches. This shouldn't come as a surprise, given that the previous season was also divided into parts. But this time around, there will be three parts instead of two. That means, you'll have to keep your binge-watching stamina strong and your patience even stronger as you wait for each thrilling batch to drop. Batches 2 and 3 will be released on Netflix on different days in December.

Stranger Things season 5 takes place a year after everything that happened in the fourth season. It's the fall of 1987, and the group is trying to find and defeat Vecna once and for all. However, their plan faces unexpected obstacles when the military arrives in Hawkins looking for Eleven. With the fate of their town hanging in the balance, the friends must unite for one last battle against a threat more powerful and terrifying than anything they’ve faced before.
