Apple TV+'s Severance has become the streamer's breakout series in recent years. Airing its second season in 2025, the mind-bending, surreal, and haunting series follows a team of employees whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives.
The four main characters making up the tight-knit team at Lumon's "Macrodata Refinement" division are Mark S. (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and Irving (John Turturro). By the end of season 2, Mark completed the ominous Cold Harbour file, and in the climactic moment, his innie decided to choose Helly over his outie's wife Gemma. It's all set up for season 3, which is officially happening—although any release is likely still some time away.
Britt Lower talks Severance
In a recent interview with Deadline, Helly actress Britt Lower revealed a deleted scene featuring her character, but not before weighing in on whether being "severed" would work for her personally.
“Well innie life means work life,” she said, “so, if I were living my best work life … I love my job as an actor, but I also really love organizing my sock drawer, so I think I would be a good innie who just organized things. I’m really in my happy place, just pouring out a bag and sorting through it.”
She also pitched the idea that Lumon should allow its employees to take naps during their shifts. “I love taking naps!” she said.
So, what's the deleted scene all about? Well, it took place during season 2, episode 4, "Woe's Hollow," in which the Macrodata Refinement team is taken on a bonding trip outside their usual workplace. "There was a beautiful scene in episode 204 where Zach Cherry, as Dylan, is explaining how he doesn’t like outside, and it started snowing while we were filming that scene. It was really beautiful. It’s not in the show,” Lower revealed.

After two seasons of Severance, it's hard to imagine anyone else as Helly. Lower has won numerous awards for her role, including the Hollywood Critics Association Television Award and Critics' Choice Super Award. She was also nominated for an Emmy.
