Squid Game season 3 is coming exactly when we thought it would: soon!

We'll only have to wait a few months to watch the third and final season of Squid Game. Check out the new pics!

After waiting over three years to watch the second season of Squid Game, fans could be forgiven if they were a little disappointed that we only got seven new episodes, compared to the nine we got in season 1.

However, there's a method to Netflix's madness. They will debut the third and final season of Squid Game this year. In fact, we don't have to wait that long: we learned today that the final episodes will drop on June 27.

Incidentally, that is exactly the release date that got leaked earlier this month. But hey, it only means we're waiting around six months between seasons, which sure beats waiting over three years.

Together with the release date, Netflix dropped five new images from Squid Game season 3. If you'll recall, season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, with Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) mounting an unsuccessful rebellion against the organizers of the games. He's alive, but much worse for wear:

Gi-hun's rebellion was thwarted in part by the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), the overseer of the games who went undercover as a contestant. We get two pics of him, one with mask on...

One of the more interesting new charaters introduced in the second season was Kang No-eul (Park Gyu-young), a Squid Games guard who has second thoughts about the job she's doing. I'm hoping she'll listen to her conscience in season 3 and help out Gi-hun and the other contestants:

Speaking of the other contestants, here are a bunch of them crowding around a coffin, which likely contains the body of one of their friends who participated in the failed rebellion. Usually those coffins don't turn up in the common room, but I wouldn't put it past the Squid Game organizers to rub salt in the wound:

Squid Game also turned up in a sizzle reel Netflix released today showing off some of the shows and movies coming out in 2025. The reel follows a woman who is trying to watch Netflix surreptitiously at work, and then gets transported into the worlds of the shows she enjoys. It doesn't actually have any new footage from Squid Game, but it is pretty fun:

Squid Game is the most popular show in the history of Netflix. Let's hope it goes out on a high when it drops this summer.
