Earlier this year, Disney aired The Acolyte, the latest in a long line of Star Wars TV shows it's been cranking out ever since The Mandalorian was a hit back in 2019. Unfortunately, the show was a bit of a dud with audiences and critics alike, and Disney announced The Acolyte won't be coming back for a second season.
Now they have a new Star Wars show on the horizon: Skeleton Crew, about a group of kids who find themselves in control of a spaceship. Their mission: pilot it home. They get some help from a mysterious older character played by Jude Law.
The show seems to be going for a Star Wars-meets-Stranger Things vibe, with these plucky tweenagers going on an adventure. But will this Star Wars show catch on, or will it meet the same fate of The Acolyte before it?
We'll find out shortly. The first two episodes of Skeleton Crew will drop at the same time on Monday, December 2 (they were originally going to drop on Tuesday but Disney pushed things back by a day, for whatever reason). Episodes will release on Tuesdays thereafter. The season will last eight episodes long. Here's the full schedule:
- Episode 1: Monday, December 2 at 9:00 p.m. EST, 8 CST
- Episode 2: Monday, December 2
- Episode 3: Tuesday, December 10
- Episode 4: Tuesday, December 17
- Episode 5: Tuesday, December 24
- Episode 6: Tuesday, December 31
- Episode 7: Tuesday, December 7
- Episode 8: Tuesday, December 14
Disney has had hits and misses with its Star Wars shows. The Mandalorian made a splash with viewers and Andor received tons of critical acclaim, while shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi split fans and Ahsoka came and went without a ton of fanfare. And then there's The Acolyte, which was something of a complete dud. Where will Skeleton Crew fall on this continuum? We'll find out soon.
