The Stranger Things 5 trailer is finally here. It arrived a little earlier than fans were expecting after leaking on Twitter the night before Netflix officially released the trailer.
I don't think I'm alone in sharing that this trailer completely defied my expectations. I was thinking that we were going to get a nice, little intro to Stranger Things 5 Vol. 1, which premieres on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and then we'd get another trailer for Vol. 2 later before its release on Christmas Day. That's not what happened.
There are so many epic shots in the new trailer! Of course, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) is a big part of it, and his return looms large, but I'm more invested in our heroes. At first, we see Hawkins under quarantine, and we see the party setting out on their last mission: to find Vecna and end this before he ends everyone and everything they love.
There are so many team-ups hinted at in the trailer. We have Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Hopper (David Harbour) working together. The Party is back together, but Eleven reminds Mike (Finn Wolfhard) that this isn't D&D. Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) are up to something. Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) rescues Max (Sadie Sink) from the hospital as it is overrun by Demogorgons, very reminiscent of the events of Stranger Things 2. By all indications, Stranger Things 5 is everything we hoped it would be.
This is the best trailer for a Netflix show I can remember. It's an action-packed thrill ride from start to finish. The trailer features a better arc than most TV shows. It's truly incredible!
Not only that, but it's so much more than anyone was expecting to see in the new trailer for Stranger Things 5.
The Duffer brothers reveal the Stranger Things 5 trailer features shots from every episode

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of Stranger Things, revealed every episode is represented in the Stranger Things 5 trailer. So, in addition to the four episode of Vol. 1, there are shots from Vol. 3, which includes episodes 5-7, and the series finale, which will be released on New Year's Eve.
"There are shots from every single episode, including the finale," Matt told EW.
“The marketing team actually hasn't seen the finale, but we did send them a couple shots that we thought could work," Ross said. "They're in there, but I'm not gonna tell you which shots."'
There are some shots that I think are probably from the series finale, but there's no way to know for sure. This show is so unpredictable, and with so many battles looming, it's impossible to figure out the order all of this going to happen.
With that said, I have to imagine the scenes with Will (Noah Schnapp), Vecna, and the very scary demogorgons ripping through the armed forces in Hawkins happen later in the season. They could be the last episode of Vol. 1, which sets up the second half of the season. That's my prediction right now.
The Duffer brothers teased one scene happens in Stranger Things 5 Vol. 2

There are some huge moments in this trailer. Obviously, the Vecna-Will moment is one everyone is talking about. Eleven flying is another. But, the most epic part of the trailer is when Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever" really kicks in and the new Hawkins radio tower, like, explodes and this shimmer of light completely covers Hawkins and the Upside Down. It's wild, and it's not happening in Vol.1
Matt revealed that shot doesn't happen in the first four episodes. Instead, it's going to happen in Vol. 2.
"It plays a very important role on the show. You're not gonna see that in Volume 1, either. It’s in Volume 2.”
For some reason, I keep wondering about the radio tower or antenna being a way for Eleven to amplify her powers. Can she close the Upside Down for good? Is she the key to everything?
Honestly, after watching the trailer, I have even more questions than before, and that's perfect!
Again, there's so much to break down in this trailer for Stranger Things 5, but it's good to know that the full season is represented in the trailer. I can't wait to see all the fan theories as we get closer to release.
Watch Stranger Things 5 beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 26, on Netflix. Vol. 2 premieres on Christmas Day (Dec. 25), followed by the series finale on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31).
