Take the Black: Everything we know about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 & the Aegon's Conquest movie

The ravens have been working overtime in Westeros, and we have a lot to talk about in this week's episode of Take the Black.

It's been a busy week in Westeros, from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 casting news to the shocker reveal that Game of Thrones could be heading to the big screen. Just when you thought that we might get a breather after Dunk and Egg wandered off into the sunset from Ashford Meadow, the future of the Seven Kingdoms is looking busier and more intriguing than ever.

That's a good reason for a new episode of Take the Black, our chat show podcast where Marq Nettles and I go through all the latest developments in the Game of Thrones universe, among other fantasy and sci-fi news. We dish on all the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Game of Thrones movie news in this episode, and it is a lot. Check it out below, or on your preferred podcast platform:

Before we dive into the big updates, we have to take a look back at A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1. Now that we've had time to process it, how does it hold up? Has this series revitalized the Game of Thrones franchise? Is it everything we hoped for? And how well does it do justice to George R.R. Martin's novella, "The Hedge Knight"?

From there we're off to the races, going over everything we know about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2, from its freshly announced cast members to its filming schedule, little details we already know about the season from interviews, and more. The shape of the season is becoming a little clearer each day, and we're already hyped for it!

But of course, the most eyebrow-raising news of the week was the scoop that Warner Bros. Discovery has a Game of Thrones movie script in its hands, written by House of Cards creator Beau Willimon. Even more curious, this movie is about Aegon the Conqueror, the first Targaryen ruler who united the Seven Kingdoms under the Iron Throne. We already knew that HBO was developing an Aegon's Conquest TV show, but apparently WBD is developing its own take on the dragonrider. Will both of these adaptations make it across the finish line? And which do we think lends itself better to Aegon's story, a show or a movie?

We discuss all that and more on this week's episode of Take the Black!
