It's Game of Thrones anniversary month, and here at Winter Is Coming we're spending the entire month of April looking back on the 15 years since the show's premiere. Across eight seasons, Game of Thrones changed television for the better, carving out fantasy as a viable niche for adult television and sending every studio on a quest to find their own epic masterpiece. How could we not talk about it for weeks on end?

Obviously, that includes our podcast, Take the Black, where myself and co-host Marq Nettles discuss all things Westeros. Since the show's anniversary is nigh, we kicked things off by looking back on the series and shouting out some of our favorite moments. Watch, and then tell us which ones we missed in the comments:

Marq and I each came to this episode armed with some of the showstoppers that impacted us most, and they probably won't surprise longtime viewers of the series. Who wasn't floored by the execution of Ned Stark or the Red Wedding? Who didn't cheer when Joffrey Baratheon finally got his comeuppance, or get emotional when Brienne of Tarth was knighted on the eve of the Long Night, paying off a fantastic character arc that spanned almost the entire series? Those scenes are iconic, and we'd be fools to overlook them!

But there are also some subtler picks in here as well, from quieter character-driven moments to places where the show deviated from the books in daring ways that paid off in spades. You bet we talked about those as well! Suffice to say, this episode of the podcast runs about as long as an actual episode of Game of Thrones. Would you have it any other way?

The Take the Black Podcast is on Apple MusicSpotify, and YouTube! Please subscribe, download, and rate us there or on your podcast platform of choice if you want to show us some love!

New episodes of Take the Black premiere every week on the Winter Is Coming YouTube channel and podcast platforms across the web. Pick your poison, and come along with us on a retrospective journey to Westeros this month! We've still got a while to go until the actual anniversary date on April 15, and you can bet we've got plenty planned for those weeks, as well as those that come after.
