After Blaine Shaw and his minions capture Sam, Wally, Judy, Renee, and Art in episode 5, the residents of The Boroughs are offered a deal. Wally, who has been conversing with Blaine, presents the deal at the beginning of The Boroughs episode 6, "The Grey Rebellion."

Basically, in exchange for stopping the monster hunt and keeping the secret that Blaine and the rest of the people in charge are using the monsters to suck the residents of the Boroughs’ brain fluid dry, they get to keep their lives. Wally also has to go to work for Blaine and solve some of their big problems.

Three days later, we catch up with Sam, Judy, and Art. They took the deal, but they are under house arrest.

Wally goes to work at the lab at The Manor and drinks the Kool-Aid

Wally heads to the lab where they have a party for him on his first day. Wally is offered the blood that will cure his cancer. He’s hesitant, but eventually, he accepts and drinks it all.

Blaine reveals that Wally will not age another day and he’ll feel like a “million bucks” as long as he keeps drinking it. Wally is all in on the no-cancer-live-forever smoothie lifestyle.

Sam makes a plan to escape

Back at his house, Sam continues work on an invention. He is creating some sort of machine to beat Blaine and his monsters with his old TVs. It makes no sense to me, but it also doesn't make sense to him either.. Unfortunately, his visions are getting even worse. He keeps seeing his wife, Lily, everywhere, including on the old TVs that he’s trying to fix up.

He runs outside and speaks with Art, who suggests he keep his head down and try to live his life. Sam plans to walk through the desert and call Claire to come pick him up.

Art tries to talk him out of it, but we know he’s going to do it.

So, who is Mother? What is Mother? Wally explains everything

At the lab, Wally learns the truth about Mother. Blaine reveals that he has a special patient called Mother, who is the mother of the monsters who suck the brain juice from the residents of The Manor and The Boroughs.

Wally tells Renee the full story. Marcus Shaw, aka Blaine, who was a miner, found a strange egg in 1949. The egg hatched and out came Mother. Somehow, they started drinking Mother’s blood, and they realized that they didn’t age. The blood cured their various illnesses, and it made them immortal.

Unfortunately, to keep Mother alive, they needed brain fluid. So, they started having her children feast on the brain fluid of others. They started The Boroughs to give Mother and her children an endless supply of brain fluid.

Wally believes this Mother found him for a reason. He, as a scientist, has the tools to beat death for good and use Mother for good. He turns down Renee’s offer for Paz to break them out.

Later, he visits his patient and watches the “kids” inject the brain fluid into a tube that travels into Mother. For the first time, we see Mother, who is an alien creature with human traits.

Paz offers to break out Renee, Judy, Sam, and Art, but Renee has another plan

Art and Judy are trying to play house, but Art doesn’t want to be with her anymore. She betrayed him and fell in love with Jack.

Renee decides that it’s not time to flee The Boroughs. They need to kill this Mother and end this once and for all. They make a plan to sneak in an kill Mother during the 75th anniversary party at The Borughs at the weekend.

Claire tricks Sam and sends him to The Manor

Sam sneaks out of The Boroughs and walks through the night to the diner. He calls her in a panic, but she’s already at his house looking for him.

She sees all the crazy stuff that he’s been up to with the TVs, and she knows Blaine was right about sending Sam to The Manor. He’s also rambling about the monsters again.

When she picks him up in the diner, Sam falls asleep in the car. When he wakes up, he’s at The Manor checking him in. He’s taken to his room while his friends are left in the dark about what happened.

Later, Art sees Claire and finds out Sam is in The Manor. He puts his issues with Judy aside and plans to break Sam out of the place.

Finally, we learned the secrets of The Boroughs, The Manor, the Shaws, Mother, and the monsters. Now, we just have to sit back and see if this ragtag group can take down an evil undead organization with a full group of monsters at their disposal.

How could it go wrong?
