The first teaser for the fifth and final season of The Boys dropped this past weekend at CCXP Brazil, and it contains a tease for actor Jared Padalecki’s new character. Padalecki is yet another Supernatural star to join the cast, with Jensen Ackles joining in Season 3 as Soldier Boy, and then Jeffrey Dean Morgan having a small role in Season 4.
Padalecki’s role is still a mystery, and pretty much nothing has been revealed about his character so far. But the actor previously revealed that he has scenes in Episode 5, and the teaser shows him with Soldier Boy, so maybe don't expect too big of a role, given the supe's volatile attitude.
Season 5 of The Boys has a lot to pay off
The trailer also shows Homelander ruling a fractured America. Interestingly, it seems like Butcher is back with the gang, although the end of Season 4 showed him giving into his dark side and seemingly going his own way with his new powers. The main plot of Season 5 look like it will revolve around Butcher’s plans for a virus that can kill all supes, something he was adamant about in the last season.
The showrunners have talked a lot about how the final season aims to feel apocalyptic, and you can definitely get a hint of that from the trailer. Things are looking pretty bleak with Homelander in complete control.
Season 5 of The Boys will premiere on April 8, 2026, with two episodes. But that’s not the only Prime Video-produced superhero show that everybody loves, as Season 4 of Invincible will also premiere in March of 2026, and there will be at least a few weeks of overlap where both shows will be coming out with new episodes on a weekly basis.
For fans of the franchise, there’s a lot to look forward to beyond the end of the main show. There are more seasons of Gen V planned, and although the spinoff hasn’t been officially renewed for a season 3 as of writing, showrunner Eric Kipke has stated that there are plans for it.
Then there’s the prequel Vought Rising, which is currently filming and is most likely to be released sometime in late 2026. It stars Soldier Boy and Stormfront as the leads, and takes place in the ‘50s. There’s also a Mexico-set spinoff, but very little is known about it beyond it being produced by Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal. We'll be keeping an eye out for updates.
