The Witcher season 4 is reportedly adding a musical episode

Netflix’s The Witcher has become one of the streamer’s biggest fantasy hits. Based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, but made far more mainstream thanks to the third Witcher game, the show follows Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter who tries to survive on a Continent where humans can oftentimes be more dangerous than beasts. Alongside him are two powerful sorceresses—Yennefer and Tris—and young princess Ciri, whose destiny is tied to Geralt.

It looks like The Witcher season 4 might surprise everyone with something different: a musical sequence. According to Redanian Intelligence, this will take place during a flashback involving Jaskier. They also report the musical number is tied to a fish soup scene at a dinner party, where characters like Geralt and Regis share their pasts.

At this point, this has not been confirmed by Netflix, but the publication is a trusted source for all things The Witcher.

Meanwhile, there are big changes in cast and direction for season 4, including a new Geralt.

What to expect from The Witcher season 4

Season 4 of The Witcher is looking to be one of the most dramatic (and possibly divisive) yet, both on and off screen. The biggest shift is, of course, Geralt himself. Henry Cavill has stepped away from the role, as announced back in 2022, and Liam Hemsworth is taking up the sword for both seasons 4 and 5.

That change alone has fans split, but Netflix is confident and is pushing ahead irrespective of that. Another major change is Vesemir. Kim Bodnia, who played him before, won’t return, and instead Peter Mullan has been cast in the role.

Some exciting additions are coming, too. Laurence Fishburne is joining as Regis, one of the most beloved characters from the books, who became even more popular after playing a big role in The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion.

Sharlto Copley will step in as Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy will play Skellen, and Danny Woodburn has been confirmed as Zoltan. Behind the scenes, composer Joseph Trapanese and costume designer Lucinda Wright are both returning.

Netflix has already confirmed that seasons 4 and 5 will close the saga, adapting the final Witcher books. Despite this, Witcher fans have a lot more to look forward to, namely The Witcher 4, which is set to have Ciri as the protagonist, and looked absolutely stunning in the tech demo reveal earlier this year in June.

Though Netflix has not confirmed it, it’s been reported that The Witcher season 4 could premiere as early as October 2025. Stay tuned for more.
