Most people know Charlie Brooker as the creator of Black Mirror, the groundbreaking anthology series that redefined sci-fi on television. Following the release of the seventh season back in April 2025, Brooker has finally set his next project at Netflix, and it's much different than the dystopian tech nightmares fans have come to expect.

On Sept. 9, the streaming giant announced that it had officially greenlit and started production on a new untitled crime thriller series from Brooker. Brooker serves as creator, writer, and executive producer of the show. Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier, and Joel Morris also helped write the scripts, while Victoria Asare Archer contributed additional material. In addition, Al Campbell directs. Other executive producers include Jessica Rhoades and Annabel Jones, while Mark Kinsella serves as co-executive producer and Richard Webb as producer.

Although not marketed as a limited series, Netflix describes it in a press release as a four-part detective show. That said, it appears to be structured as a self-contained miniseries. Hopefully, the streaming giant will provide more clarity soon. But for now, viewers can expect the show to consist of four episodes. Episode runtimes were not revealed, but we're probably looking at about 45-60 minutes per episode, which is standard for Netflix dramas of this type.

The series follows a haunted detective from the fictional Northern city of Bleakford who goes to London to hunt down a ritualistic serial killer before the killer claims more victims. This plot already has us interested!

But the most exciting part about this new show is who's been cast in it. Paddy Considine, Georgina Campbell, and Lena Headey will lead the series. Considine is best known for starring as Viserys I Targaryen in House of the Dragon. His other notable roles include playing Father John Hughes in the crime drama series Peaky Blinders and Kevin Harrigan in the other crime drama MobLand.

Georgina Campbell

Campbell is known by many for her standout performances in the horror films Barbarian and The Watchers. This won't be the first time she's worked with Brooker, as she previously starred in the "Hang the DJ" episode of Black Mirror. Given that they've collaborated before, this might have helped Campbell book the role.

Lena Headey

Last but surely not least is Headey, who most people will recognize from her iconic role as Cersei Lannister in HBO's Game of Thrones. Some of her other work includes roles in the TV shows Merlin, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, White House Plumbers and Beacon 23. When it comes to her film work, you might have watched Headey in the movies The Brothers Grimm, The Purge, 300, 300: Rise of an Empire and Gunpowder Milkshake.

Sadly, this is all that's been revealed about Brooker's new Netflix show so far. However, more information should start coming out soon now that it's been given the green light and is in production.
