What time do new episodes of Severance come out? Sometimes Apple drops them early

New episodes of Severance drop Fridays on Apple TV+...except when Apple decides to drop them the night before.

The release schedule for Severance appears simple at first. The second season of the mind-bending workplace drama kicked off on Friday, January 17. Episodes are supposed to drop every Friday thereafter until the season wraps on up no March 21. Here's the full schedule:

  • Severance Episode 201: January 17
  • Severance Episode 202: January 24
  • Severance Episode 203: January 31
  • Severance Episode 204: February 7
  • Severance Episode 205: February 14
  • Severance Episode 206: February 21
  • Severance Episode 207: February 28
  • Severance Episode 208: March 7
  • Severance Episode 209: March 14
  • Severance Episode 210: March 21

New episodes drop at midnight on Apple TV+...HOWEVER, Apple has been known to drop episodes the night before they're supposed to go up. For instance, the third episode of season 2, "Who Is Alive," started streaming on the night of Thursday, January 30, even though it was technically supposed to drop on January 31. Apple TV+ announced this on its X page at 8:00 p.m. CST:

Apple TV+ isn't the only streaming service to do this kind of thing. I don't quite know why they do it — you'd figure that predictability and consistency in scheduling would be a virtue — but it's known to happen.

So, in short, while new episodes of Severance are supposed to come out every Friday, sometimes they drop Thursday nights; if you're really eager to see what happens next, it may be worth checking Apple TV+ in the evenings to see if a new episode has landed. You might just get rewarded.

And it might be especially worth it to check out Apple TV+ tonight, because the upcoming fourth episode of Severance's second season, "Woe's Hollow," is getting a lot of excellent press. By all accounts, this episode is a major barn-burner, so whether it drops a couple hours early or not, it's going to be one to watch.
