Each week, we recap the biggest and best stories from the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, movies, books and TV. This week is a special week, because it has one foot in 2024 and the other in 2025. What happened during this magical gap week? Let's see!

The new year is here and it's full of TV. Here are the fantasy shows we're most looking forward to seeing back on our screens in 2025

And here are some of the brand new ones coming down the pike:

And why stop at fantasy? There's a lot of genre TV coming in 2025. Here's a giant list with all the shows worth paying attention to over the next 12 months, which we discussed on our latest episode of the Take the Black podcast:

Unfortunately, there are also some shows we're looking forward to that aren't coming back this year:

One of the biggest shows on the way this year is undoubtedly Stranger Things, which will air its fifth and final season on Netflix. Here's what we know (and what we think we know):

Another show which is massive at the moment is Squid Game. The second season premiered on December 26 and was an immediate hit for Netflix. But it ended on a cliffhanger. When will we get to see season 3? As it turns out, the streamer may have already revealed the premiere date on accident:

It's also big week for Outlander fans. The penultimate episode of the show's seventh season, "Written In My Own Heart's Blood," saw the Revolutionary War finally kick into high gear, landing time-traveling lovers Jamie and Claire Fraser in the line of fire. Our review and recap:

Another fantasy show which is expected to have a huge year in 2025 is The Witcher. A new book in the series was released in Poland late last year, and it finally confirms exactly how old Geralt of Rivia is in book canon. As it turns out, he's quite a bit younger than either the Netflix show or video games make him out to be:

Over on the book front, we're looking back on The Kingkiller Chronicle series from Patrick Rothfuss. We may not have the final book in the trilogy yet, but that won't stop us from ranking every book, novella, and short story set on Temerant so far:

We also spent some time thinking about The Wheel of Time. The third season of Amazon's television adaptation premieres this March, and it's adapting one of the best books in the series: The Shadow Rising. Let's talk about why you should read it:

New Years is that time where we all set resolutions, and then see whether we can stick to them for the next 12 months. If you're eyeing some new fitness goals this year, we've got an article that might help make sticking to them a little more fun:

What else will happen in the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, movies, books and TV? Best stick around all week to find out. You know what, stick around all year, just to be safe.
