Stephen Colbert Schools Obama on Westeros

As we reported earlier this week, President Obama apparently loves Game of Thrones. But his love of the show is in the vein of, shall we say, “the passing Unsullied”—those who tune in every week but cannot actually manage to recall the details (like, say, the names of the main characters). One might forgive the Commander in Chief—after all, the man has a lot on his mind. But not everyone is so forgiving. In fact, First Nerd In Chief, Stephen Colbert, who can intelligently discuss the Lord of the Rings fandom, the Star Wars fandom, and the Game of Thrones fandom without missing a detail, found this lack of recall disturbing. After all, how can we trust the leader of the free world with our geopolitics if he can’t get a handle on the ins and outs of Westeros?

“You’re telling us you don’t even remember Hodor’s name? I guess that’s understandable. He only says it fifty times per episode.”

Point, made and taken. Also, I do believe that Stephen Colbert just gave away which side of the “Is Jon Snow dead?” debate he’s on. We’ll see how fatal those injuries really were come Season 6, won’t we?
