20. Ellaria’s Mourning Look
Black doesn’t become Ellaria much more than it did Margaery. This outfit is something of a variation of the orange number she wore when we saw her at Joffrey’s wedding in King’s Landing. It’s got the same pointed power shoulders, the same shape at the bodice—though instead of that criss-cross being formed by a lack of fabric, it’s being formed by leatherwork that recalls the armor Oberyn’s died in. The real head turner here is the hair cut. The suddenly short business ‘do is in direct opposition to the hair she had before, which bordered on impractical. In retrospect, her haircut was a warning that others should have heeded.
