A few days ago, the BBC sent forth a mysterious new trailer. Entitled Doctor Who: Mission DALEK, it was an eight second clip that essentially told us that Mission DALEK was coming soon. While it was likely safe to theorize that this involved a mission that the Dalek race would play a factor in, everything else was open to conjecture. What are you teasing us with, BBC?!

Well, now we know. The details behind Mission DALEK were announced yesterday, and this is much different than anything that could have been imagined. Essentially, the Doctor is lost in the vastness of time and space, his TARDIS nowhere to be found. He is attempting to make contact, but the only clues as to his whereabouts are located in his 2000 year diary, which happens to be in the TARDIS Core. Pretty convenient place for that. Meanwhile, as the Doctor is trying to figure out where he is, he runs into the Daleks.

More from Doctor Who

What is the Doctor to do? How will he escape and survive to explore time and space? That is where you come in. Using different download packs, you get to tell the story of how the Doctor would escape his predicament, allowing him to be able to continue his adventures. There are also tips available from different writers and directors, including Steven Moffat, to assist one with their tales.

These different stories can also be shared as part of the global celebration of Doctor Who, allowing fans to share their stories with other Whovians. If you happen to be a Whovian that is living in the United Kingdom, there is the opportunity to receive what the BBC is referring to as “The Doctor Who prize of a lifetime.” With this prize, you would get to visit the set, and spend some time with Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.

Now, there is one catch to these videos. They have to 90 seconds or less, so one would have the literal definition of a moment to tell the Doctor’s tale. What type of story can you tell, and how will you have the Doctor escape the Dalek menace before him?

Doctor Who: Mission DALEK is certainly an interesting premise. I know that I am looking forward to seeing the different ways that Whovians are able to get the Doctor out of his latest predicament.
