Available to buy or download today, Big Finish’s new audio series Doctor Who: The Third Doctor Adventures marks the first time an actor other than the original star will give voice to a Doctor in a full-length adventure. Other actors have been employed before for cameos and other minor appearances, including Treloar himself debuting as the Third Doctor in the 2013 anniversary release, The Light at the End. Original Doctor Who stars William Russell and Frazier Hines gave voice to the First and Second Doctors in that same story.

As an ancient menace begins to stir, the Doctor, Jo Grant and Mike Yates must dive down to the lake bed and discover the secrets hidden there. Secrets that could mean the end of all life on Earth…The Havoc of EmpiresWritten by Andy LaneThe Doctor and Jo take Mike Yates on his first trip in the TARDIS, but instead of the historical cricket match they were aiming for they end up on a futuristic space station in the middle of a diplomatic crisis that might escalate into galactic war.The alien leader of the Chalnoth Hegemony is marrying the human Director of the Teklarn Incorporation, but there are forces that will stop at nothing to disrupt the ceremony. Finally, here’s a trailer for the first volume where you can hear Tim Treloar’s Third Doctor for yourself:
I’ve gotta say, as controversial as this may be among some fans, Treloar sounds exactly like Pertwee here, and if it means we continue to get new adventures with the Third Doctor, I’m all for it.
