The six-part first series began with last week’s Torchwood: The Conspiracy, starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness. Next month will see the release of Torchwood: Fall to Earth with Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones, and November will see Eve Myles and Kai Owen return as Gwen Cooper and Rhys Williams in Torchwood: Forgotten Lives. Big Finish recently teased the fourth release, Torchwood: One Rule, on social media, but there’s no word on the cast just yet:
On Friday, Big Finish announced that pre-production had begun on a new six-part second series of Torchwood. It will begin in March 2016, the very next month after the final release in the first series. The new series will follow the pattern of the first, featuring individual team members at various times throughout the show’s history.

Executive producer Nicholas Briggs shared his enthusiasm:
"“I couldn’t really imagine that the response to our Torchwood series wouldn’t be positive. So I’m very pleased not to have been proved wrong. The series has so many dedicated followers and the audios have been written, directed and produced with such love for the source material. James Goss, as producer, has brought so much enthusiasm and joy to the project. I find myself hoping every day that I’ll receive another excited email from him.“And we’re so grateful that the brilliant stars of Torchwood have come in to record and have been so bloomin’ good! Russell T Davies has been so supportive and full of encouragement too. Frankly, we had no choice but to get on with a second series as soon as possible.”"
You can pre-order a subscription to the second series now for a discounted rate of £45 for CD or £40 for download.
