Finally, after months of speculation and guessing (not to mention dozens and dozens of fakes), the BBC have released the episode titles for all twelve installments of Doctor Who‘s upcoming Series 9.

Believe it or not, until recently the only stories we had titles for were the opening episodes (‘The Magician’s Apprentice’/’The Witch’s Familiar’) and the Maisie Williams two-parter (‘The Girl Who Died’/’The Woman Who Lived’). A few weeks ago we learned the Zygon episodes featuring the return of Osgood would be titled ‘Invasion of the Zygons’/’Inversion of the Zygons,’ though you’ll see they’ve been altered slightly now.

Here’s the full list, straight from the BBC:
"9×01 ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’9×02 ‘The Witch’s Familiar’9×03 ‘Under the Lake’9×04 ‘Before the Flood’9×05 ‘The Girl Who Died’9×06 ‘The Woman Who Lived’9×07 ‘The Zygon Invasion’9×08 ‘The Zygon Inversion’9×09 ‘Sleep No More’9×10 ‘Face the Raven’9×11 ‘Heaven Sent’9×12 ‘Hell Bent’"
As for the newly released titles, ‘Under the Lake’/’Before the Flood’ is the Toby Whithouse story featuring an underwater base and a creature called The Fisher King. There were rumors it was set at Lake Loch Ness in Scotland, which would jibe with the ‘Under the Lake’ title, but recent photos/trailers have indicated it may take place in Soviet Russia.
‘Sleep No More’ and ‘Face the Raven’ sound like references to Edgar Allan Poe, but it’s impossible to tell. As far as we know, these are the only two episodes that aren’t connected: ‘Sleep No More’ is the “found footage” episode by Mark Gatiss, and ‘Face the Raven’ is writer Sarah Dollard’s “invisible streets” episode featuring the return of Rigsy.

We know next to nothing about the two-part finale, so it’s impossible to infer much from ‘Heaven Sent’ or ‘Hell Bent,’ though they do sound reasonably intense.
Doctor Who Series 9 begins September 19 with the premiere of ‘The Magician’s Apprentice.’ For much more information, check out our frequently updated guide: Doctor Who Series 9: Everything There is to Know So Far.
