Yesterday was more than just the premiere of Doctor Who‘s ninth series, it was also the seventh annual “Big Finish Day,” a convention to celebrate all of Big Finish‘s audio productions. There were several announcements made at the event, but arguably the biggest was the reveal of the titles and cast for the two remaining releases in Big Finish’s first series of Torchwood audios.

The first release, Torchwood: The Conspiracy, is out now (read our review here) and features the return of John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness. Next month will see the return of Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones in Torchwood: Fall to Earth. In November, Eve Myles and Kai Owen are back as Gwen Cooper and Rhys Williams in Torchwood: Forgotten Lives. Tracy-Ann Oberman returns as her Doctor Who character, Yvonne Hartman, in December’s Torchwood: One Rule.

And now we know that January’s release will feature John Barrowman again as Captain Jack Harkness in Torchwood: Uncanny Valley, written by The Conspiracy‘s David Llewellyn. Here’s the synopsis from Big Finish:
"What’s made billionaire Neil Redmond emerge from his long seclusion? Captain Jack knows the answer, and is prepared to go to any lengths to prove it."
Series 1 of Torchwood will conclude in February with Torchwood: More Than This, with Eve Myles back again as Gwen Cooper. Former Torchwood novelist Guy Adams wrote this final chapter in the story of the mysterious organization, The Committee. Here’s a very short synopsis:
"Gwen meets Mr Pugh, the one man who can’t say no to Torchwood…"
Fret not, though — Big Finish recently announced that Torchwood will return for a second series the very next month, in March 2016. No story or cast details yet, though I’m still holding out hope for Burn Gorman or Naoko Mori to return.

Recently, Big Finish producer James Goss gave an interview to Doctor Who News, where he gave some new insight into the recording process for the new Torchwood series:
"“The cast have been enormously, enormously supportive. They’re all tremendously busy but have made time for us, somehow. John records in a studio in Palm Springs, Gareth came in straight after finishing a gruelling theatre tour, Kai travelled halfway across the UK for the recording… the list goes on. And they’re an utter delight in the studio. At every single recording the engineer spends most of their time laughing. It’s that much fun.”"
