Spoilers out of Riverrun, as Filming in Corbet Continues (UPDATED)
By Ani Bundel
With delayed filming finally underway for the siege of Riverrun, spoilers are spilling out of the cracks in security. And believe me, security is tight. There are no real pictures as of this morning, but there are plenty of sightings, including of some big-name actors.
————-Spoilering Spoilering, Spoilering, Spoilering————-
Are you sure you really want to know what’s happening? Are you sure you’re sure? Because this information could lead to some serious tin foil hat paths. Please do prepare yourselves.
Yes, you read that right. Brienne is in Riverrun. And just in case you don’t want to take Irish Throne’s word for it, Los Siete Reinos is reporting the same, although it doesn’t say anything about Sansa. Brienne in the Riverlands. Jaime in the Riverlands. Returning, after a season off, to the location of their original storylines from the books. Add in Sansa, and this could mean….
Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Am I thinking what you’re thinking? The Stoneheart rumors that have been kicking around this pre-season could come to pass in some form. No, not with Michelle Fairley. C’mon now, we all know she’s not in it. But we all know that Benioff and Weiss have been willing to use Sansa in other people’s roles, rather than have her wandering around with her hair dyed black claiming to be Alayne Stone.
And according to these reports, Sansa’s in Riverrun, too. (Though to be fair, according to other rumors, she might not actually be filming until December.) But if she is there? This could indeed be Not A Drill.
And for the record, Irish Thrones, which was the source of the big Lady-Stoneheart-will-appear-in-Season-6-rumor, still stands by its report.
UPDATE: New reports from Los Seite Reinos suggest that Sansa will NOT be joining any of the other cast members at the Riverrun set. Per LSR, while Sophie Turner was filming material near the Riverrun set in Banbridge, she was not actually filming on that set. There’s more than one set in the area, and more than unit was filming material. With everyone in close proximity, it seems that some wires got crossed.
The idea of Sansa in the Riverlands never made a ton of sense to me, so this clarification fits. Now that she knows her brother Rickon is alive, I’d think Sansa would go looking for him in the North, but that’s just a guess.
Other spoilers from LSR pertain to the North. According to the site, the massive battle scene filmed at Saintfield (which LSR wonderfully refers to as “The Battle of the Six Armies”—take that Lord of the Rings!) will include Davos Seaworth as part of the action. It also notes that Watchers on the Wall has reports of crews setting up to film in Murlough Bay, which the production has used before for Theon and Yara’s handsy horseback ride, and Ballycastle Cemetary, which has a graveyeard. The former site sounds like it’ll be used for the Iron Islands. The latter…well, there’s a lot of dead people in Game of Thrones. Could be just about anything. But if I were keeping my eyes open for Rory McCann, that sounds like the place to do it.
