Over the past year, Titan Comics has continued to grow its line of original Doctor Who stories. There are currently three monthly lines featuring the Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctors. For the Tenth Anniversary celebration of the new series, fans were treated to a fantastic crossover miniseries featuring these Doctors as well as a five-issue miniseries starring the Ninth Doctor as played by Christopher Eccleston. Last week, Paul McGann’s Doctor became the next incarnation to be inaugurated by Titan into his own ongoing miniseries. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Titan Comics has now announced a new miniseries for 2016 going back to one of the golden eras of Doctor Who.

More from Doctor Who

“Gaze of the Medusa” is a five-part miniseries that will debut in March 2016 and star the Fourth Doctor and companion Sarah Jane Smith, as played by Tom Baker and the late Elisabeth Sladen. It will be penned by Gordon Rennie (Missionary Man, Judge Dredd) and Emma Beeby (Witch Hunter, Judge Dredd) with art by Brian Williamson (The Twelfth Doctor). This all-new adventure will take place in Victorian London, evoking the feel of the Hinchcliffe era. Here’s the synopsis:

"A mysterious woman commands a hidden army in a house of the blind. Scryclops stalk the streets… and something alien and terrible screams from prehistory — with a hunger that cannot be satisfied!"

As a child who adored comic books, I owned all of the old classic comics starring the Fourth and Fifth Doctors. During those long periods where I had to wait to see my hero on the screen, these comics were the perfect escape into the extraordinary worlds of Doctor Who. The writing was always sharp, and the artwork allowed for stunning visuals that the slim budget of the original series couldn’t produce. Given Titan’s track record, it makes sense that their next Doctor would be old teeth and curls. He is the most iconic incarnation of the original series who has had plenty of past exposure to the comic book format.
