As the latest Doctor Who spinoff Class begins filming, spoilers and details will be starting to filter in. The latest tidbit of information is certainly one that will capture everyone’s imagination.

The biggest question with any Doctor Who spinoff, naturally, is whether or not the Doctor will make an appearance. With Class being set at Coal Hill School, a key setting in the Doctor’s adventures through the years, the question of whether or not he would appear became even louder than normal.

While Peter Capaldi himself has not been sighted on set, there was one major clue that would indicate that the Twelfth Doctor, or a previous incarnation, could be making an appearance: The TARDIS was seen on set during filming.

More from Doctor Who

At this point in time, one has to imagine that the Doctor, in one of his incarnations, will be appearing on Class. After all, why else would the TARDIS be there if the Doctor is not? Unless one of the courses for the students in Coal Hill involves recognizing the TARDIS and the different signals that the Doctor could be around.

With the potential that the Doctor will be appearing, one has to wonder what type of adventure he will be a part of. Will we see the events of The Caretaker from the viewpoint of the students of Coal Hill? Or would he appear in an entirely new story, facing off against one of the new creatures that are slated to appear in the spinoff?

If the TARDIS is around, typically the Doctor will not be far behind. While nothing has been said to specifically confirm Peter Capaldi’s, or any other former Doctor’s, involvement on Class, the sighting of the TARDIS would seem to be as close to a conformation as one could get without an official announcement.
