Like many screen actors in the United Kingdom, various members of the Doctor Who family have been known to perform in stage productions. The tradition continues.
Part of the announcement of the Doctor’s new companion Bill, played by Pearl Mackie, involved reports of the actor’s involvement with the West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. It is not surprising that there are other Doctor Who actors who will be appearing in various other upcoming productions.
From July 2nd to August 6th, Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith will be appearing in Unreachable, a new Anthony Neilson play being presented at the Royal Court Theatre in London. The production will be “created in the rehearsal room” in what sounds to be a sort of workshop, the progress of which will be continually documented online for folks to examine.
Below is an abstract concept video, featuring a rambling monologue in the manner of Terence McKenna.
This will not be Smith’s first production at this venue, having performed there as Arnold in Fresh Kills in 2004, and as Henry in That Face in 2007. For more of Smith’s stage credits, click here.
