John Barrowman has an exciting new project in the works, the pilot for which he shot at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest NY/NJ 2016.

We have fairly extensively reported on John Barrowman news over the past few months. There was something recently, however, that flew under our radar amongst the deluge of news surrounding the beginning of filming for Series Ten of Doctor Who. In June, Barrowman held a competition for a few fans to get the chance to hang out with him at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest NY over this past weekend. Fans were asked to submit minute-long videos detailing “with energy and excitement” their “dream con with JB.”

As awesome as simply hanging with Barrowman would be in and of itself, there was more to the deal than simply this. Over the course of July 1st through the 3rd, Barrowman was filming for a pilot. Those involved with the contest were expected “to be willing to get crazy, and have fun, and be filmed.”

The following is his Facebook video containing the details:

"“Now this pilot, if it all goes well, I hope everybody gets to see it. But this is the project I’ve been wanting to do for years!”"

Who won has not yet been revealed. It is also still unclear exactly what the show is about, but his goal is to “get outrageous, typical JB style.” I envision something like featuring the most raucous and bawdy parts of various conventions around the world, much like Insomniac with Dave Attell did for various cities. We probably will not be seeing new Torchwood on screen — at least any time soon — but this new show sounds quite intriguing.

The only other bit of information that Barrowman can legally divulge at this point is that he is working on the pilot “with a company.”
