Speaking of people in outfits that make them look uncomfortable…
First, can we just stop a moment and say “Holy Hell, who knew Sam’s family was loaded like that?”
HOLY HELL, WHO KNEW SAM’S FAMILY WAS LOADED LIKE THAT?!
Okay, moment taken. Now, on to Gilly’s bizarre experience in discovering how the other half—the half born on the right side of the wall to the right family—gets to live. Not that anyone there thinks that Gilly is anything but low-born. In fact, Sam’s father assumes she’s a whore. But Sam’s mother and sister take one look at her, and the way she looks at Sam, and that’s enough for them. She’s family, and it’s time to put her in finery befitting that station. (Considering how Catelyn treated Jon Snow and Robb’s Volantis-born bride, could you see her doing anything so welcoming? Nope.)
Still, you can put the wildling in the gown, but you can’t teach her to walk in it. Gilly’s hesitant steps towards Sam in the uncomfortable heels are as adorable as the sight of her in curled hair. Thank the heavens that Sam came to his senses and didn’t leave her behind at Horn Hill, where she might have had to keep dressing like that.
