Doctor Who: Jenna Coleman and Alex Kingston Talk Spin-offs

Both Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald) and Alex Kingston (River Song) have recently discussed their respective hypothetical involvement, or noninvolvement, in Doctor Who spin-offs.

When we saw Clara Oswald and Me fly off in their diner TARDIS at the end of ‘Hell Bent,’ many fans instantly desired a Doctor Who spin-off featuring the two characters in their own adventures. The obvious title for such a show would be Clara and Me.

Sadly for these fans, however, Jenna Coleman recently told Huw Fullerton of Radio Times that Clara and Me would be “best left in the imagination.” Despite this, she acknowledges that the concept has “a bit of interest from fans” and that it would “be fun to do.” As for a possible return to Doctor Who, itself, her attitude is the same. She added in the fact that “the Doctor doesn’t even remember her any more” and that she does not want to tamper with her epic exit.

Her time playing a teacher at Coal Hill School has given her an extra nostalgic incentive in looking forward to the upcoming spin-off, Class.

On another note, at the Tales From The TARDIS panel at New York Comic Con, Coleman’s former co-star, Alex Kingston, discussed how she would love to be a part of a Torchwood revival. She cited the ongoing efforts of John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness) to get the production of the show going again.

In December of 2015, we shared an article reporting on a statement that Kingston made about wanting a spin-off featuring River Song and Captain Jack Harkness. Barrowman’s former co-star, Eve Myles (Agent Gwen Cooper), has also expressed a desire to see Torchwood make a comeback.
