Season 7 filming: Pics from Zumaia show various characters reaching their destinations

The Game of Thrones production has been filming on Itzurun Beach in Zumaia, Spain, for a while now. All that ends tomorrow. Afterwards, the area will be open to the public, who can look around as the crew disassembles the set. But for now, The Daily Mail has more pics from the set, as the cast members film key scenes in the area.

This post is brought to you by a SPOILER ALERT.

Taken by PAP4U, several of these photos depict members of Team Targaryen—including Daenerys, Tyrion, Varys, Missandei, and several Unsullied soldiers—ambling down the ramparts of the Dragonstone set (for that is where they are: Dragonstone). It looks like they’re having a good time, particularly Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) and Conleth Hill (Varys), with her high-stepping and his funny faces. Or maybe they’re singing as they march.

No, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) is taking no part in this silliness.

Anyway, Watchers on the Wall reports that they were walking toward some caves in the side of a nearby cliff. Javi Marcos of Los Siete Reinos confirmed that the production was filming near the cave entrances.

As Watchers notes, there isn’t any actual…cave in that cave. There aren’t any tunnels or anything. It’s just a rock formation. So while the show may film characters exiting or entering a cave, this will only serve as the entrance. In any case, it’s hard to get pictures of them in this area because most of the photographers are position over the cliff face itself.

Something else to note from the new Daily Mail photographs: director Jeremy Podeswa is on hand. Yesterday, it was revealed that Podeswa will be directing the premiere and the finale of Season 7. Odds are that these photos are from Daenerys’ initial arrival on Dragonstone, when she’s getting a feel for the area. By the end of the year, some of these characters will probably be on separate journeys.

And there’s more. PAP4U also snapped photos of Jorah Mormont (or a stuntman standing in for Jorah Mormont on account of boats being dangerous) being ferried onto the island by the specialized longboat rowers HBO hired for just such an occasion.

We already saw Jorah shove off from Dragonstone along with Gendry, Jon Snow, and Davos, so this is very likely his arrival. The shot is too far away to tell if he still has his greyscale problem. What do you think?

Speaking of those rowing crews, El Diario Vasco notes that HBO imported an English-speaking rower from Ireland to supplement the local team. He’s also an actor. If HBO went to the trouble of bringing him all the way from Ireland when local people were available, odds are he’ll be doing some performing, too.
