Doctor Who TV: Questions We Have for Knock Knock

With the episode airing today, there are a few things crossing our minds about the new episode of Doctor Who.

Even for the creepiest episode of the season, or at least so far, questions arise in our minds regarding Knock Knock. We know about the 3D surround sound for iPlayer users, we know about the easter eggs that are going to be hidden throughout the episode (seriously, look out for at least two!), but what else comes to mind when we watch the official trailer for the episode?

I’m not going to put the synopsis of the episode, though if you need a refresher, you can look at our guide to watching the episode.

That’s not a flat, that’s a castle.

I know that this episode is supposed to show the housing issues in Britain, and if Moffat is looking to educate his viewers, good for him. But here’s what I don’t understand, what they’re staying in could easily be called a castle.

Now, I know there’s six of them and that means that probably a lot of places are too small, but we went from ‘a flat’, to a place with a tower. How exactly was that swung? And why would anyone be surprised that the floorboards creak and everything is setting? You’re living in a large building that’s probably older than America!

Is Moffat trying to say that the crisis in Britain is causing teenagers to live in creepy castle-like buildings where there are also angels of death? Also, will every episode have a social commentary? I personally don’t mind, but many viewers aren’t happy that social context is being brought into their Who time.

Why the episode title?

I’m just asking. I still haven’t heard the infamous four knocks from the earlier episodes with John Simms’ Master, only ever hearing two knocks. However, the name of the episode interesting, considering the aliens of this episode are wood-like creatures, and the main issue seems to be that there’s something in the tower.

They might be knocking to get out of the walls of the building, but naming the episode ‘Knock Knock’ seems a little too opportunistic. With the person/alien/what have you from the Vault being revealed in only two episodes, perhaps there’s more to this episode name than just the house. The Doctor is, in fact, on Earth, shouldn’t he be guarding the vault?

Will we see any Weeping Angels?

It’s well-known that the castle (it’s a castle) used for this episode was also the famous spot where Sally Sparrow found her weeping angels. With all of the easter eggs being laid, will we happen to see an angel in the window? Blink was written by Steven Moffat, so make sure you keep an eye out and try not to blink whenever there’s a window….just in case.

What questions do you have for this episode? What will you be looking for? We’ll be livetweeting the episode at 9/8c on @DrWhoWatch!
