Season Nine Superlative: Best Guest Star – Maisie Williams
There were many guest stars in Season 9, including Ingrid Oliver, Maisie Williams, and Beverly Cressman, and Michelle Gomez. Who rose above the rest? For the sake of giving other people a chance, we’re going to not include Michelle Gomez in choosing one, even though she was a guest. We all know who I would give any award to if Michelle Gomez if asked.
So, who rose above all?

We’re going to give this Superlative to…Maisie Williams!
This is probably an obvious answer to the question, but above all, Maisie Willaims shocked us from the beginning. She went from small and scrappy Viking, not unlike a young Arya Stark, to a strong female figure who has to brave being immune to time.
Maisie Williams does a fantastic job at showing the difficulties of never aging. While the Doctor has used his ability to regenerate as a way to help people and be good, Lady Me goes a different route. We see her as a criminal, someone who was robbing people, looking for a way off the Earth.
Throughout the ninth season, we see Ashildr, or Me, in her two episodes, as well as Face the Raven and Hell Bent. The character truly showed the bad things that can happen if you live too long by yourself.
Lady Me was eventually part of Clara’s execution in Face the Raven, and part of bringing her back in the controversial episode Hell Bent. While the episodes may be controversial, William’s performance isn’t.

She gave a performance that rivaled her character in Game of Thrones. Like Peter Capaldi, she outdid any possible writing errors talked about in Hell Bent and gave a wonderful portrayal. She showed us what would happen if you were immortal, but stuck on Earth, taking the long way. It’s easy to be immortal and regenerate when you have all of time and space to see, but what happens when you’re stuck on Earth?
She answered all of these questions with beautiful acting almost not worthy of the show. She was one of the best characters and actors brought on in the shows years.
