Westworld Creator Confirmed Which Worlds We Won’t See In Season 2

The first season of Westworld hinted at Samurai World, but could we see other parks in Season 2?

Who wouldn’t want to go to a park where they could live out their wildest fantasies? On the hit HBO series Westworld, patrons of the impressive park can do just that. But, what if you’re not into the whole wild west vibe? Sure, Delos created an impressive vacation spot in Westworld, but we know that other parks exist in the world.

When Maeve was executing her “Mainland Infiltration” program in Season 1, we got a glimpse of Samurai World. In this scene, we saw hosts dressed up in Samurai costumes and a logo that contained the letters “S” and “W”. The confirmation of another world led fans to believe that other parks could exist, but what would they be? According to the shows creators, there are two we probably won’t see.

Jonathon Nolan Confirms Which Parks We Won’t See In Season 2

Back in early October at the Vanity Fair Summit, Westworld creators Jonathon Nolan and Lisa Joy were asked a question regarding other parks on the show. Specifically, why two parks that were featured in the original 1973 movie, Roman World and Medieval Word, weren’t in Season 1. In a short response, Nolan gave fans hope that we could see these parks during Season 2:

"“We had to save something for Season 2.”"

Nolan’s answer didn’t confirm anything, but it left room for the possibility of more parks. Unfortunately, a few days after Nolan’s initial comment, he took away the fans hope of seeing the two worlds from the original film. During the Westworld panel at NYCC on October 13, Jonathon Nolan was asked if Roman and Medieval World’s existed in the show’s canon. This time, Nolan gave a definitive answer after trying to evade the question entirely:

"“I’ve been coming to New York Comic Con for seven years and I’ve never said a single thing of substance. They keep inviting me back, but I’ve never answered a single question, not really. You said Roman World and Medieval World, right? No.”"

With a one-word answer, Nolan seems to have put the nail in the coffin for Roman World and Medieval World. This doesn’t mean we won’t see other worlds beyond Samurai World, but the show seems to be distancing itself from the 1973 film. It makes sense that Delos would have several parks, but besides Samurai World, we can only speculate on what they might be.
