“Oh yeah! It was electric
So perfectly hectic
And the band started leaving
‘Cause they all stopped breathing”

  – The Sweet

You might be wondering why lyrics to The Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz” are posted above. Well, it’s because the song perfectly represents the chaos Dolores has wrought in Westworld. Ford’s narrative unveiling was a peaceful gathering, but it turned into the spark that ignited a revolution. The Season 2 trailers showed us the train is still rolling, and Dolores’ campaign against the humans is in full swing.

At the moment, it looks like Dolores and her host army is unstoppable. Sure, the hosts aren’t invincible, but they definitely have the upper hand. The fight appears to be one sided, and given everything we’ve seen, the humans will lose. The trailers could be purposefully misleading us. But, we are left asking, do the humans stand a chance against Dolores and her host army?

Do The Humans Stand A Chance Against Dolores And The Hosts In Westworld Season 2?

Westworld Season 1 conditioned us as the audience to root for the hosts. They succeeded in their mission, and heading into Season 2, we still want the hosts to win. That being said, the hosts seem to be an unstoppable force careening towards a certain victory. While that’s a win for us, it seems a bit unrealistic given the human’s capabilities.

Westworld presents a society that has reached the pinnacle of their existence. They’re technologically advanced to the point that they have created sentient life. Ford also mentioned that they had all but cured every ailment that once plagued humanity. It stands to reason that this society would have the means to defend itself against any foe. If this is true, then how is Dolores and her army barreling through them?

Dolores And The Hosts May Be Outgunned In The Furture

For one, we don’t know where the Delos parks are located, so it could be out of the reach of any backup. Also, the hosts only seem to be taking out people in the park. They could have disabled the park’s communications to prevent back up. If this is the case, then it explains how the hosts rolled through the humans with little effort.

This suggest that what we’ve seen of Dolores’ revolution is only a small battle in much larger war. It also means that this is only the beginning of a lengthy and bloody conflict. For now, the hosts have a foothold, but in the long run, they will face much bigger challenges. This presents an opportunity for the hosts to learn, grow and earn a hard fought victory against their oppressors.
