Game of Thrones fans the world over are coming to grips with the sad reality that their favorite TV show is coming to an end. But while they might be in mourning, the cast and crew are taking a more pragmatic view of things. Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment at the Irish Film and Drama Awards (where Game of Thrones won big), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) made a case for ending the show sooner rather than later.
"This thing always had a beginning, middle and an end. ‘And as me Dad used to say, “Jesus it’s a bit dragged out isn’t it?” So we don’t want to drag it out. We want to get out. We want to do like The Beatles or The Jam and get out at the top of it and get out before everyone hates us."

Far be it for us to argue with Mr. Cunningham, but we doubt anyone would complain if we got another season or two. That’s especially true for people like Cunningham’s accountant, who has apparently “got his nails bit down to the quick” at the prospect of the Game of Thrones cash train coming to a halt.
But season 8 is all we’re getting, so instead of bemoaning the fact that the series is ending, let’s talk about the ending itself. RTÉ asked for hints, of course, but Cunningham’s been at this a long time and wasn’t about to spill any beans. “George R.R. Martin…described the end as ‘bittersweet,’ and it is,” he said. “That’s all you’re getting. Think I’m gonna give you a scoop? I’d get shot!”
That’s actually among the more detailed descriptions of the ending we’ve gotten so far. Bring on the bittersweetness.
And as for Cunningham’s accountant, Davos just got his very first Funko Pop! figurine, so hopefully that cheers him up a little.
