Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy has spent the last year working on Season 2. But, she already is working on her next project, the film adaptation of Battlestar Galactica.
Westworld co-creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan did an amazing job adapting Michael Crichton’s 1973 film for HBO. The first season of Westworld was the most viewed of any new series on the network, and Season 2 looks to be even better. Although she spent the last year working on Westworld Season 2, Lisa Joy will soon set her sights on another popular sci-fi series. According to recent comments made by The Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence, it appears he is teaming up with Joy on a big screen adaptation of Battlestar Galactica.
Westworld Co-Creator Lisa Joy Is Developing A Battlestar Gallactica Film With The Hunger Games Director Francis LawrenceIn 2016, Universal Pictures announced that Francis Lawrence would helm a film adaptation of Battlestar Galactica (BSG). While speaking with ComingSoon.Net about his new film Red Sparrow, Lawrence was asked if he was still working on BSG. He confirmed that he was still attached to the project, but he also revealed Lisa Joy was working with him:
“Yeah, I’m working on that, that’s something I’m developing. I’m working on that with Lisa Joy, who is one of the creators of Westworld. The original series was actually one of the first sets that I ever went on. I remember being a kid and loving that show, and they were filming near my house and my mom took me down there and I got to try on a Cylon helmet.”
We still know very little about the new BSG; however, Lisa Joy’s involvement is exciting. Sure, fans of the 2005 Syfy series might be skeptical of a big screen adaptation of the series (even though it was a remake itself). But, Lisa Joy has proved that she knows the genre and her work on Westworld is inscrutable. For now, we’re thrilled that Joy is on-board, and we can’t wait to learn more about the project.
We still have a few months until Westworld Season 2 drops. Until then, we will continue to speculate on anything and everything Westworld.
