How Will The Westworld Maze Play A Role In Season 2?

The Man in Black introduced the idea of maze after he scalped one of the hosts. Underneath the skin was the enigmatic glyph. From then on, fans were taken on a ride to the mystery surround the meaning behind the maze.

Eventually, fans learned that it was a game created by Westworld co-founder, Arnold. He wanted it to be a way for the hosts to break free of their Bicameral Mind and become conscious. Now that Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) and the hosts have sentience, there’s probably no need for the symbol again.

We may not see it used to help the other hosts, but we still have to see how the Man in Black discovered the symbol. There’s a gap in his story between his younger self as he traveled with Logan to his older self. Sometime during his rise  in the ranks at Delos the Man in Black became obsessed. We know season 2 is not going to start right where it left off and that there will be a little bit of time jump. We just don’t know if it’s forward and backward. But if they are using time as a theme again, then it’s possible that the maze symbol will become an important tool to understanding how young William became his evil self.
