Round one of Doctor Who Watch Madness is in the books, but which villains, Doctors and companions are moving on to the Sweet 16?
Any just like that the first round in the 2018 Doctor Who Watch Madness tournament is officially in the books clearing the way for what promises to be an eventful Sweet 16. Following a series of fan-voted polls, the results for the first phase in this year’s bracket are ready to be revealed in their entirety and what an eventful first round it turned out to be!
Over in the Villains Division, we watched as the Dalek took down Missy in a heated battle, witnessed the Cybermen demolish Silence, saw The Master easily turn up the heat on the Ice Warriors and found the Weeping Angels leaving Auton behind in the dust as the first winners of the Round of 32.

Competition got even more intense in the Old Companions and New Companions divisions as fans struggled with picking favorites when challenged with voting for the best of the best. In the end, however, we watched as Susan Foreman, Ace, Sarah Jane Smith and Teegan Jovanka won out in the Old Companions Division while Rose Tyler, Amy Pond, River Song and Clara Oswald proved to be the favorites in the New Companions division.
As for the Doctors?
In some of the most talked about battles of the first round, four Doctors managed to emerge victorious with the Tenth Doctor, Fourth Doctor, Ninth Doctor and Eleventh Doctor set to move on to the next round of the competition.
Round of 32 Odds and Ends
- After the first round of competition all No. 1 seeds remain in the tournament after victories over the No. 8 seeds.
- While all four No. 1 seeds managed to make it through the first round of voting, only one No. 2 seeds is advancing to the Sweet 16 and that honor goes to Amy Pond.
- In what proved to be the closest battle of the first round, Missy lost to the Dalek by a mere 16 votes.
- Our biggest blowout came in the battle between Sarah Jane Smith and Jo Grant when Sarah Jane defeated Jo with 95% of the vote!
Updated Bracket

Sweet 16 Voting
