Alfie Allen (Theon) gets into sci-fi, and other Game of Thrones cast member news

Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) is the unsung hero of Game of Thrones. This guy has been in all seven seasons and has shepherded his character through enormous changes without every being less that totally convincing. For whatever reason, the show never gave him the supersized career boost it gave costars like Kit Harington, Emlia Clarke, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, but in terms of talent, Allen deserves to go as far as he wants.

Hopefully this next project will be good for him. Filming right now in Spain, Paradise Hills is a science fiction thriller set in the near future, revolving around a woman named Uma (Emma Roberts) who wakes in a high-class treatment center where rich parents send their daughters to be reformed. The Tracking Board reports (via Deadline) that Allen has joined the cast.

Of course, much as I want Allen to succeed, the fact that the movie is filming right now makes me a little nervous about what will happen to Theon Greyjoy come Game of Thrones season 8. Am I to take this as evidence that Allen is done filming on Thrones, meaning that Theon could have an early exit, or maybe he just signed on to Paradise Hills now and will film his scenes for it later?

Now I’m nervous. I’ll calm down by watching Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) model the hell out of this fuzzy hat:

That’s better.

UPDATE: Actually, scratch all of that. Deadline updated its story to remove Allen’s name, so…crisis averted.

In other cast member news, Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger) talked to Express about his leading role in Dave Allen at Peace, about the life of the titular Irish comedian. Sure, the movie’s getting iffy reviews, but at least Gillen is getting to play some other characters after spending seven years as Petry Baelish. “Get out early and get some good gigs while the rest of them are tied up contractually,” Allen said of the advantages of being done with Game of Thrones.

Oh god, that reminded that we only have one year of the show left. I’ll calm down by looking at a picture of Aimee Richardson (Myrcella Baratheon 1.0) looking at a tapestry of woven version of her child self arriving at Winterfell:

That’s better.

Next: Season 8 filming: Walkers walking at Magheramorne Quarry
