When it comes to the stories in Westworld, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are like two devious magicians. One hand waving to distract the audience, while the other hand is pulling the strings. This time, the showrunners of the HBO hit show pulled our strings when they released the Westworld spoiler video for season 2. At least, that’s what the fans on Reddit thought they were getting during a recent AMA.
On Monday, April 9, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy took part in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on the Westworld subforum on Reddit. One of their announcements was to provide the Westworld community on Reddit a chance to learn the plot of season 2:
"“If you guys agree, we’re going to post a video that lays out the plot (and twists and turns) of season 2. Everything. The whole sordid thing. Up front. That way the members of the community here who want the season spoiled for them can watch ahead, and then protect the rest of the community, and help to distinguish between what’s ‘theory’ and what’s spoiler.”"
Here’s the video they posted after their announcement reached 1000 upvotes on Reddit. Feel free to watch it, and find out what they did in the video.

Reddit user shhhneak said, “I have no self control so I clicked against my will…Honestly did not expect to see that in 2018. Westworld keeps reinventing the game.” On the other side of the fence ben10jimjams was outraged, “TERRIBLE. Yes, I really am this angry. I am officially unsubscribing from this sub + unfollowing and blocking the unforgivable creators of Westworld on places like Twitter.”
But questioning what we see is the foundation of Westworld. Fans are asked to question their reality. And the writers did that over and over with the Bernard reveal, William as the Man in Black, and Dolores turning into Wyatt at the end of the show. What makes the show so special is its ability to not just trick us, but to give us a new perspective on reality.
