Game of Thrones season 7 wins three Webby Awards

From the Golden Globes to the Emmys, it might be easier to report on which awards Game of Thrones doesn’t win, but you aren’t here for that. Deadline reports on the results of the 2018 Webby Awards, and Game of Thrones came away with some new trophies to add to its pile. Started in 1996, the Webby Awards are unique among awards bodies in that half of them are chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and the others are chosen by you, the internet surfer. They also have a much longer list of categories than usual. Game of Thrones season 7 was nominated for three awards and took home all of them: Best Overall Social Presence, Best Trailer, and Best Digital Campaign.

This is the third straight year Game of Thrones has won the award for Best Social Presence. Considering the amount of buzz the show generates, it’s not surprising. The official trailer for season 7 was a big hit, too, racking up 40 million views.

As for Best Digital Campaign, I guess people really enjoyed that stunt with the giant block of ice.

Thrones was not eligible in the “Best Series” category, as the Webbys are only concerned with shows produced for the internet.

The list of winners is out, but the actual award ceremony won’t take place until May 14 in New York, hosted by Late Night with Seth Meyers writer and comedian Amber Ruffin. Maybe John Bradley and Hannah Murray can pick up Thrones’ award again?

Either way, congrats to Thrones on the wins.
