3) MILTOS YEROLEMOU

We all loved Miltos Yerolemou’s smooth performance as bravo and master sword-fighter Syrio Forel. Like so many Thrones characters, he left us far too soon (unless you buy into the theory that he didn’t perish offscreen in “The Pointy End“). The Greek-born Yerolemou sat down with New Hampshire Magazine to talk about his influences for the character:

"My open-minded attitude and watching too many films like “The Matrix” and “Star Wars” and “The Karate Kid” and probably the first film that I was taken to by my dad, “The Big Boss” (with Bruce Lee). I have loved the way unconventional teachers have been represented on film and I am sure George R.R. Martin must have been influenced himself."

In the same interview, Yerolemou also addresses the ‘Syrio-is-still-alive’ theory. “No comment.” I think that counts as addressing it.

Although his movie parts have been on the smallish side, Yerolemou has been in big Hollywood movies like The Danish Girl (2015), Murder on the Orient Express (2018) and as a bar patron in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015, above picture, far right). He’s also appeared in TV series such as Hububb (1997-2003), Wolf Hall (2015) and New Blood (2016).

Yerolemou’s great love is the theater (that’s him as Bottom in a Barbican production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream above), and he’s hoping to return to the stage with The Royal Shakespeare Company. If you want to see some more of him, Yerolemou is appearing in the film DJ and in the TV series Marcella in 2018.
