Jeffrey Wright dishes about his upcoming HBO documentary

HBO documentary, We Are Not Done Yet, by Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright premieres tonight!
Jeffrey Wright is doing some incredible things and tonight we can all bear witness to yet another thing that makes him so wonderful. His HBO documentary, We Are Not Done Yet, follows a group of veterans and active-duty individuals as they come together to talk about their traumas, past and present, through art and spoken word.
In a series of workshop sessions/rehearsals, these individuals get to channel their experiences in a unique way and then perform in front of a live audience. The experience the documentary seeks to illustrate is how these men and women face their traumas, PTSD, and their time in the military (good and bad) through a unique channel.
Many have faced horrible atrocities including but not limited to sexual assault, and Wright’s We Are Not Done Yet, helps them confront their past and also discuss how they are adjusting back into civilian life. And we have just mere hours before we can watch the documentary ourselves.
In an interview with Collider, Jeffrey Wright spoke about how he came to be involved in the documentary, how it’s opened his eyes to the world of veteran and active-duty members, and why arts is such an amazing way for these individuals to work through their trauma.

During his interview, Wright reflects on his time in Sierra Leone in 2001 when it was during a cease-fire but it was still a war-ridden area. This inspired him to revisit the country multiple times a year and become more invested in veterans and their journey back home.
Jeffrey Wright went on to say how watching these individuals grow and eventually perform in front of others was an honor, and he was incredibly proud of them being so vulnerable and brave. To read the rest of the Collider interview, click here!
