6) Daario Naharis

This might be a controversial one, but here me out.

Last we heard of him in A Dance with Dragons, Daario Naharis was a voluntary hostage of the Yunkish forces besieging Meereen. He turned himself over on Daenerys’ orders, part of a plan to convince the Yunkai’i that she was serious about wanting peace. Since then, Dany left the city with Drogon, and the Yunkai’i are refusing to release the hostages until the other two dragons are executed. Daario is in a tight spot.

The Meereen chapters in Dance are a slow burn, but it looks like the best is yet to come, and come very soon. With all the pieces already in place — Barristan in control of the city, Tyrion exerting influence on the Second Sons, the Ironborn arriving, Daenerys on her way back with Dothraki in tow —  the Battle of Slaver’s Bay will likely be one of the first things we hit in The Winds of Winter, and it’s going to be epic. We’re going to want a lot of perspectives on what’s going on, and given that this battle takes place on Essos, it’d be nice if at least one of them came from an Essos native. Daario can have insight that the other POV characters won’t.

Also, I can imagine the sellsword captain freeing himself and raising hell in the Yunkai’i camp, which would just be a fun read. Or could he die trying to get back to Meereen. Either way, we’re entertained.
